Safety Issues Are Main Priority For New Model Of Forklift Truck 01/11/2007
Health and safety issues were the main priorty for Hydro Polymers when considering models of forklifts from Pegasus Materials Handling of Washington, Tyne and Wear. Warehouse Manager, Paul Burns, from Hyrdo Polymers at their Newton Aycliffe, County Durham petro-chemical production site has said "We needed a professional commitment to customer satisfaction. The trucks need to be maintained in very good condition with a 24 hour back-up, as in our environment, reliability and minimal downtime are critical. Local dealer Pegasus with their team of factory-trained engineers and Manitou are able to give us the service we demand".
Pauls Burns was recommended this model by the farmers from North Yorkshire, who told him that Manitou forklift truck was good value for money and was a good and useful investment to the businesses. Paul continued to say "If you can convince a Yorkshire farmer and keep him as a customer, the Manitou truck must be a winner". There are a mixture of 30 Manitou industry products. These include diesel and electric trucks and equipment for using within the warehouse. The fact the Manitou offers everything was a very appealing quality when choosing which forklift would be most suitable for Pegasus Materials Handling of Washington.
To make the most out of using the forklift truck the Davis Derby Tracklof System has been fitted to it . With 400 employees who are involved in the production process of raw PVC plastic within the company, Hydro Polymers ( who is part of the Norsk Hydro ASA group, who are also a Norwegian group) have been using the site that is based at Newton Aycliffe for more than 60 years. The production team work with five shifts, seven days a weeks, 24 hours a day. They produce resins and pelleted compounds. The Manitou forklift trucks have been distributed around the different departments of the factory and are used in the warehouse and production sites. They are used to offload raw materials and loading the finished product to the customers. The PVC compounds that the company deal with are used in the making process of UPVC window frames/doors, pipework for drainage/water. It is also used for products in the medical industry; this includes blood bags and medical tubing.
