Hydraulic Platform Systems Designing New Airbus Military Aircraft 28/01/2008

The hydraulic platform lifting system designed by Bosch Rexroth, is playing a key part in the manufacturing of the wings for the new Airbus A400M multirole military transport aircraft. The platform will be completing the hydraulic systems to operate the total of 16 hydraulic platforms needed for the two massive wing jigs. The aircraft is 45m long with a span of 42m. Each wing weighs 3 tonnes and is believed to be the largest carbon fiber reinforced plastic composite wings ever made.

The airbus A380 is the world’s largest passenger aircraft currently on the manufacturing floor. The jigs are being manufactured in Filton near Bristol in the U.K. also by Bosch Rexroth who won the contract for the complete hydraulic system platform if all goes well with the two wing jigs.
