Toyota Wins Product Of The Year Award 02/04/2008
Toyota Material Handling, USA has been awarded the silver medal in Plant Engineering magazines annual Product of the Year award. Toyota forklift trucks won the award for the 8-Series lift truck that won the 2007 Product of the Year in the Material Handling Systems category. Toyota forklift trucks were among 150 finalists for the category and the final award recipients were chose by a panel of engineers who were then chosen froma n online poll of Plant Engineering readers. Shankar Basu, president and CEO of Toyota Material Handling said of the award that they were pleased and honored that the magazine readers have recognized the 8-Series as a winner in the category.
The Toyota forklift 8-Series lift truck includes a 3,000-6,500 lb internal combustion cushion and pneumatic tire models. The truck is recognized as the worlds cleanest internal combustion lift truck available. The Toyota 8-Series LPG, gasoline and CNG lift trucks produce 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than current federal standards and meets Californias more stringent 2010 emissions standards. Production was started on the 8-Series in January 2007 and has been storming the market since. The lift truck also features further advancements in durability, ergonomics and overall cost of operation. The California based Toyota Material Handling celebrated more than 40 years since it established its US base in Irvine. Since then it has been the number one selling Toyota lift truck supplier in the U.S. since 2002 and continues to offer a full line of high quality lift trucks sold under the Toyota brand. Toyota is recognized with being the first and only manufacturer in the world to offer a factory installed Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system that is UL-listed, and EPA-CARB certified.
