Lower Emissions For New Nissan Forklift Truck Range 21/09/2007
Recently launched by Nissan are a new variety of compact, low emission engine fork lift trucks. They have been devised to fit a multi-purpose role of being able to work in restricted areas inside and out. They are ideal for block stacking and clearinf warehouses to create more space due to their short width, which is less than a metre and being able to turn in a radius as low as 1735 mm.
These new forklift trucks, which are known as the LX series, are available in 10 lifting capacities; ranging from 1.5 to 3.6 tonnes. For the first time ever, Nissan have introduced their ‘Tri-Cat Ultra’ technological feature into these new designs. This reduces exhaust emissions, which could potentially be very harmful, by up to 99 per cent. Nissan have said that by the end of 2007 this new technological feature will be incorporated as a standard attribute in all Nissan’s LP gas trucks. These can range from one to seven tonne capacity.
As an ongoing focal point, Nissan’s priority is safety and productivity whilst having been designing and manufacturing the new compact LX series of forklift trucks. Nissan is the only manufacturer to fit the ‘Tri-Cat Ultra’ system itself into a forklift truck as a standard procedure. This system provides the lowest emissions in the marketplace and helps to protect the operator and the surrounding workforce from all of these toxic substances produced when LP gas is burned – carbon monoxide hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen.
Nissan are introducing a brand new feature into the forklift market. They are designing a high standard of performance fuel injected engines produced especially for its range of forklift trucks. In an attempt to make the forklifts that they produce more economic they have combined the Tri-Cat Ultra, three way catalytic converter with fuel injected engines, they can now provide an engine management system that offers up to 26 per cent greater fuel economy than with conventional fuel delivery.
A Risk Reduction System has also been put into place in the new series of forklift trucks. This idea has been included into every new model that Nissan has produced and will produce in the future. This system combines elements which have been designed to increase the visibility and manoeuvrability. It features physical features to maximise all safety aspects when using the devices.
Good visibility is an important aspect when working in a compact fork lift in a confine amount of space. Therefore, Nissan has incorporated a low profile counterweight. This is to enhance to the rear visibility and manoeuvrability. As well as enhancing rear visibility Nissan’s Optiview can increase the quality of the front visibility by 50 per cent.
This model has been fitted with a button that needs one push and the truck’s fork will turn horizontal, this means that greater efficiency and safety is provided when handling a load. Extra safety precautions are taken due to a mast lock system that has been fitted. This system automatically stops the forks from being lowered and the mast from tilting when the driver leaves the seat.
The control system of the vehicle prevents the speed from increasing when being turned and reduces the speeds when travelling. If the vehicle is left unattended whilst it is still in gear, after three seconds it will automatically change back into neutral.
