Upright Platform Expands Us Market 08/02/2008
UpRight Access Platforms have announced their further expansion into the US market this year with the purchase of Snorkel manufacturing. UpRights parent company The Tanfield Group Plc have purchased the Aerial platform company Snorkel International. Tanfield is listed on the AIM market of the UK Stock Exchange. The $100m acquisition of Snorkel, which has two factories in Kansas and employs over 500 employees, will push production of UpRight access platforms across the globe. Already Snorkel has seen the addition of eight former UpRight access platform models to its range built in the US. The UpRight access platforms include an electric scissor, mast and articulated boom lifts that will be supplying the construction and industrial maintenance sectors, including the unique rough terrain vertical lifts. Chief Executive of Tanfield and UpRight access platforms Darren Kell, said the new line of high quality aerial work platforms will broaden the range of platforms for both Snorkel and UpRight, and will be a truly global force in the industry.
Darren Kell said UpRight electric scissors and mid-sized booms is a perfect fit with Snorkels range of larger booms and rough terrain scissors, and will provide a comprehensive product offering that will be make the companies major players in the industry. Snorkel has production facilities in the USA and Australasia will now be working alongside UpRights access platforms facilities in the UK and the USA. The new models of UpRight access platforms that Snorkel undertook the manufacturing of the UpRight TM12 personnel lift, the UpRight platform X26UN scissor lift, and the UpRight SL26SL a diesel powered Speed Level platform. As well as an UpRight SL30SL Snorkel, and an UpRight MB20 Snorkel, and an MB26 mast boom lift and Snorkel AB38N and AB38W Snorkel boom lift. With the sale of Snorkel, UpRight products will now feature an extensive network in the USA and Australasia with direct sales and service centres.
